The Role: Temporary 1099 Billing Specialist (Project-Based)
We’re seeking an experienced 1099 contractor to assist with the annual insurance eligibility reverification process. This temporary project-based role is expected to last no longer than one month.
What You’ll Do:
- Conduct insurance eligibility checks for all patients as part of the annual reverification process, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Update and maintain patient insurance information in compliance with HIPAA and federal regulations.
- Optimize workflows to minimize disruptions during the reverification period.
- Provide clear and professional communication to patients and providers, addressing insurance-related questions or concerns.
The Experience We’re Looking For:
- 1-2 years in medical billing, with telemedicine in mental health experience required.
- Experience in a fast-paced startup environment is a plus!
- A strong understanding of EHR systems, ideally Healthie or comparable
- Experience with other software tools we use including Nirvana, Candid, Medallion, gSuite, Slack
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations, including HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), is necessary to ensure compliance and protect patient information.
- Deep knowledge of mental health billing codes, procedures, and regulations

The hourly rate range or this specific position is $15-20 depending on background and experience.
